Response: It is assumed that you have a baccalaureate degree that includes 20 units in accounting and 30 units in business. If that is the case, you qualify to sit for the May 2002 exam under the old requirements. The May 2002 exam will be the last time a new candidate can sit under the old requirements. If you sit under the old requirements, you will need to continue to pursue licensure under the old requirements and qualify and apply for licensure before Jan. 1, 2006. You will not be able to convert later to the new pathways.

To qualify under the new requirements you need 24 semester units of accounting and 24 semester units in business related subjects. It does not appear that your education meets these requirements. However, it is advisable to verify your transcript with the California Board of Accountancy.
