La Mesa CPA Robert Kevane Receives Public Service Award

For his services to San Diego-area youth and his active involvement in numerous organizations, Robert Kevane, CPA, has been awarded the California Society of CPAs’ Public Service Award for 2006.
CalCPA annually presents the award to a member with a record of commitment to public service through participation in charitable, governmental or volunteer work that significantly affects the community, state or nation.

“Bob’s involvement and efforts should serve as inspiration to all of us,” said Florence Rust, CPA, chair of CalCPA’s Awards & Recognition Committee. “Over the past 12 years, Bob has spent more than 50 percent of his time serving others through civic, church and nonprofit activities.”

An El Cajon resident, Kevane heads his own accounting firm in La Mesa as well as a real estate brokerage. He has participated as a leader in several San Diego-area nonprofit and not-for-profit organizations for more than 35 years.

Kevane has been a foundation board member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of East County since 1995, serving as president (2001-03) and vice president (1999-2001). Under his leadership, the club significantly increased its liquid assets and expanded and improved several clubhouses.

Since 1969, he has been a St. Augustine High School Alumni Association board member. For the past two years, he has worked with the school’s Facilities Development Committee to raise funds for a new campus.

Since 1992, Kevane has participated in the CalCPA Government Relations Committee’s Action Network. He also has given several presentations at area high schools as part of CalCPA’s student outreach program.
