CalCPA San Diego Chapter Elects New President

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Joan Alleckson, president of Profit Solutions Network, has been elected president of the San Diego chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA) for 2005–06. Alleckson succeeds Thomas Dalton, CPA, associate dean of the USD School of Business.

Previously Alleckson served as the chapter’s first vice president. She also has been the chapter’s secretary.

The CalCPA San Diego Chapter serves more than 2,000 members in San Diego and Imperial counties. They specialize in a broad range of services — from business consulting and personal financial planning to tax and estate planning.

Some of the activities the chapter plans for the coming months include tax call-ins with local media, a tax boot camp and reaching out to high schools to improve the financial literacy of students.
 
Alleckson’s firm helps small businesses and agencies achieve higher profitably through the identification and collection of overpayments of disbursements. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Cloud State University, Minn.

Alleckson is the California treasurer for the National Association of Women Business Owners and a member of the Corporate Directors Forum.

Joining Alleckson on the board of the CalCPA San Diego Chapter are Barry Kohn (first vice president) of Barry J. Kohn, CPA, San Diego; Narelle MacKenzie (secretary) of PricewaterhouseCoopers, San Diego; and Leslie Mittanck (treasurer) of Clyman & Associates, San Diego.
