IAR Continuing Education
Best place for Investment Advisory Representatives to get thier CPE
What is an IAR?
An Investment Adviser Representative (IAR) certification in California allows you to provide investment advice and recommendations for a fee.
CalCPA is approved by NASAA to provide courses that qualify you to get your IAR continuing education needs taken care of.
To ensure your IAR credits are reported to NASAA, please add your designation to your CalCPA Profile and include your CRD designation number.
Starting in 2024, IARs need to earn 12 continuing education (CE) credits each year to keep their registration active. NASAA defines a "credit" as at least 50 minutes of educational instruction.
Here’s how the 12 CE credits break down:
IAR-PP: Products and Practices
IARs are required to complete 6 credits annually in this category. This ensures they stay current on investment products, strategies, industry standards, and compliance practices.
IAR-EPR: Ethics and Professional Responsibility
Additionally, IARs must complete 6 credits each year in ethics and professional responsibility, focusing on ethical standards and best practices.
