On behalf of the Bakersfield Chapter Board, we wish you a joyous holiday season and extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and dedication to our profession. This past year has been remarkable, with significant achievements in events and membership engagement. Highlights include:
Student Night success: Our September Student Night set a post-pandemic participation record, returning to pre-COVID levels. A huge thanks to the Student Night Committee, co-chaired by Danhira Millan and Ramon Rivera, as well as our sponsors and professionals for making this event possible.
Signature event - ABC Night: This year’s Attorneys, Bankers, and CPAs (ABC) event achieved record-breaking success in fundraising for our chapter’s student scholarships. Kudos to the committee, led by Valerie Adams, for their outstanding dedication. It was a fun to meet with many community friends and supporters.
Community and University engagement: Board members and volunteers actively participated in events such as “From CC to CPA” at Bakersfield College and “Exploring Accounting Careers” at CSUB. Special recognition goes to Charlie McCarthy and Fernando Fermin, who represented us at CalCPA’s inaugural debate in Sacramento, addressing emerging issues in our profession.
Giving Back: We celebrated the season of giving by volunteering at The Mission at Kern County, exemplifying our commitment to community support.
As my term as Chapter President draws to a close, I want to express my immense pride in our chapter’s accomplishments and deep appreciation for our members, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters. Looking ahead, I’m confident that incoming President Fernando Fermin and the 2025–2026 board will continue to build on our success.
Wishing you all a productive and prosperous tax season.
