"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."
—Aesop
Ever wondered where the saying "dog days of summer" comes from? Well, turns out for the ancient Greeks and Romans dog days occurred when the star system Sirius rose alongside the sun, usually in late July and into August. They believed the heat from the two stars combined to make these the hottest days of the year. Anyone who has lived in the Central Valley for even just one summer would agree!
What do your dog days of summer bring? Have you considered pursuing volunteer work? There are always organizations looking for kindhearted people.
Pick a cause that you are passionate about, one you have a personal connection to, or if you need ideas there are volunteer matching organizations a Google search away. My personal favorite? The Fresno Bully Rescue! Go for a walk, play catch or maybe even have a doggy cuddle! To learn more about what this shelter does or to volunteer check out their website.
Coming up in August for the Fresno Chapter is our Summer Social on Aug. 10 at Full Circle Brewing, a CPE opportunity from our Tech Committee: Leveraging LinkedIn for your CPA Firm on Aug. 23 and Student Night on September 21 at Pardini's Catering. Please join us!
