I am honored to serve as the PSV chapter president for the upcoming year. Our focus for the forthcoming year is member engagement, specifically the incoming pipeline. We can’t automate the entire CPA profession, nor should we. People think accountants are dry and humorless, which sounds like a perfect fit for AI. However, as we probably all figured out, being a CPA is about relationship building. Sometimes I feel like a therapist more than an accountant. AI is valuable to the industry, but we also need people. We need people in the pipeline for CalCPA, our firms, and our clients.
One of the many roles of CalCPA in that process is to promote the industry to young people in the school pipeline. Our chapter focuses on the ultra-local level, Bay Area universities, YEP, and ABC events. That’s where I call on you to help; reach out to the people you know and have met over the years and share your experiences and perspectives of why being a CPA is a valuable and rewarding career choice for young people at the college or even high school levels. CalCPA and the PSV Chapter is here to help make that connection.
