2024-26 Goals
The committee continues to approach its mission through the use of four sub-committees, each with its own goals.
Communications Sub-committee
Working together to create, communicate and deliver content to CPAs that develops opportunities around the specialization of Personal Financial Planning in California.
Communicate on a regular basis with CalCPA leadership to promote programs that advance our profession.
Members to produce articles for the June issue of California CPA magazine each year. Occasional policy pieces.
Chapter chairs and others on the committee present at chapter meetings, universities, chapter discussion groups. Focus on profession/CPA. Promoting career path, why choose PFS, etc.
Continue gathering/creating toolkit (templates, tagline, elevator speech, press releases) that everyone can use.
Produce a series of one-hour webinars that discuss such subjects as retirement planning, investment planning, practice management, economics, and financial planning updates.
Develop and promote communications to CFO, CEO, and key CalCPA constituencies.
Legislative and Regulatory Sub-committee
Provide updated information primarily related to California CPA financial planners including:
Actual changes in law and regulation that impact CPA financial planners
Significant pending changes in law and regulation that might impact CPA financial planners
Other compliance issues that might impact CPA financial planners
Will include information available through CalCPA, SBA and federal resources
Only the full committee will make formal referrals to CalCPA or other interested parties. Individual committee members are not limited in their use of any provided information.
Professional Growth Sub-committee
To develop and implement professional growth initiatives to support the mission of the statewide PFP Committee.
To promote the personal financial planning core service and enable California CPAs to provide outstanding and profitable personal financial planning services
Practice Management Sub-committee
To research and present cutting-edge practice management ideas for CPA financial planners and to present those ideas to the Personal Financial Planning Committee for dissemination to CALCPA membership.
Explore and develop best practices for California investment advisory and financial practices, which encompass the areas of tax planning, investment management, estate planning, risk management and charitable giving.
