New Year’s blessings from your CNC Chapter of CalCPA! Hope you have enjoyed your holiday season. It's always wonderful to take the time to relax, reflect and spend time with those special people in our lives.
Our Chapter has been busy in 2022! Thanks to Seth Gibeaut for hosting our weekly tax roundtables during tax season. Our Emerging Professionals Group had a great TopTracer event at Dairy Creek. Golf, food, laughs; does it get any better? We also enjoyed our Blues Baseball Family night at Sinsheimer Stadium and welcomed another successful ABC Night at Hotel SLO, which raised about $9,000 for our Scholarship Fund. Applications will be coming in from Hancock and Cuesta in the spring, and we will be donating to Cal Poly for their scholarship program as well.
Thank you to Gina Levy for organizing our Crypto CPE in November at Woods Humane Society (not only did we get educated, but we were also able to tour and support Woods with our meeting room fee). Our 2022 was topped off with our Coat and Sock drive held in December; we collected 18 coats, 116 pairs of socks and 80 beanies, as well as cash donations. All were distributed throughout the county (5 Cities Homeless Shelter, 40 Prado and ECHO in North County). Your generosity helped provide some warmth to those in need. THANK YOU!
There are so many people to thank for the continual success of our local Chapter. Thank you to our board members and directors: Chris Raymer, Elizabeth Boyajian, Katy Ayer, Gina Levy and Camille Slayter. Also, our committee members: Chris Raymer (Gov’t Relations/Grassroots), Gina Levy (Taxation), Kayla King (Emerging Professionals), Michelle Curry (Nominations), Brooke Salvini (Personal Financial Planning) and Allen Eschenbach (Accounting Principles & Assurance Services). Last but definitely not least, thank you to Haley Raymer, our incredible program manager, who keeps us all on task and works so hard for not only our Chapter but Channel Counties as well.
Other 2022 shout-outs! We are thrilled (and proud) that Elizabeth Boyajian has been accepted to the CalCPA Leadership Program for 2022-23. Special thanks to Katy Ayer and Gina Levy for making presentations about the accounting profession in accounting classes at Hancock College this fall. Should anyone be interested in presenting at local schools or organizations, we encourage you to highlight our profession and encourage pursuing the Coolest Profession Around (thank you, CalCPA Chair Tayika Dennis, CPA for that rebranding!)
We will be in Sacramento (soon to be our new corporate home) in January, representing you at our Council Meeting and CPA Day at the Capitol. We encourage you to stay involved with the CNC Chapter, and please let us know if you have ideas, suggestions or would like to serve in a leadership capacity. We would love to have you on the team. May 2023 be a year of health and overall well-being.
