Hello Central Coast Chapter! Hope you’ve enjoyed a day off to celebrate Labor Day, and take a break from your labors. Chris Raymer, Camille Slayter, Haley Raymer and I recently returned from the 2022 CalCPA Council meeting held in Olympic Valley at Lake Tahoe. It was a great event and we accomplished a lot of business, including the installation of our new chair, Tayiika Dennis and her 2022-23 board.
You can read about Tayiika in the August issue of California CPA magazine. She values her CPA license and CalCPA membership, and also believes CPA stands not only for Certified Public Accountant, but also the Coolest Profession Around! Tayiika encouraged us to continue to strengthen the pipeline for future CPAs, as well as continue to focus on diversity and inclusion efforts.
Your Central Coast Chapter is working on scheduling presentations at both Hancock and Cuesta colleges, as well as participating in various Cal Poly events. If you are interested in making a presentation at your local high school, Hancock, Cuesta or Cal Poly, please reach out to me or another board member and we will get you on the schedule. We also will be participating at the Cal Poly Fall Symposium on Oct. 7 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., so let me know if you would like to participate in that event.
Our big September event is ABC Night which will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Hotel SLO. Event registrations and sponsorships are currently available. We so look forward to spending a relaxing evening together with you! Remember, this is a scholarship event, so net proceeds will support our annual student scholarships. So long summer, and welcome in fall! See you around town!
