Greetings Everyone! Where has the time gone? With 2022 coming to a close, I hope you all had a successful year and a wonderful holiday season with a chance to relax and enjoy your family, friends and loved ones. I’m excited about what’s ahead both personally and professionally as we start the new year, 2023!
My life as a CPA has been busy as usual, and I’m not complaining! We have all been through a lot and should always search for those things that make us happy and recharge our batteries. For me it varies from waking up at 4 a.m. to watch my favorite soccer team play a match, taking my younger daughter to parks and napping on weekends (dreaming about the future) after being a Rideshare driver for my daughters’ activities. During the week it's a search for at least 20-30 minutes to walk during a lunch break, or between the many meetings. I hope you're finding similar opportunities and ways to keep yourself happy, healthy, motivated and inspired.
How nice is it to be looking in the rear view mirror at COVID-19? Can you believe it all started back in 2019? As accounting professionals, we're going into a new busy season and are already planning and performing interim work for 2023! It's business as usual, but business as usual for us is working on the cutting edge of finance, accounting and technology! Who touches more facets of the world than us with the variety of our clients in incredibly diverse industries and professions? It seems we, CPAs, are the foundation and backbone of the US economy as we research, plan, comply and audit to ensure the integrity of our businesses, government and overall economy!
As a tax professional myself, I can’t wait to meet and catch up with my clients as we crank-up for planning and filings. It’s so much fun to work with the most talented professionals in the world right here in the Bay Area, even if it means sometimes doing it at midnight. In reality, I am blessed, love my work and can’t wait to get started with each sunrise.
As I have mentioned in previous messages, I would love to connect with each and every member, including our student members, to build our profession, our careers and CalCPA together! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at gghising@gmail.com. Our next Chapter event is the ‘ABC Mixer’ on Jan. 26 at Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos. It guarantees a 2-hour flight of fun networking, an open bar and delicious hors d’oeuvres. This is one of our Chapter’s two major annual fund-raising events with net proceeds going to fund our annual scholarships and support students in our community who dream of joining us as CPAs.
Please come to our events as often as you can in support of our Chapter, CalCPA and our profession. I can’t wait to see you and chat at an upcoming PSV Chapter's ABC Mixer event on Jan. 26.
Happy New Year
