Welcome to the fiscal year 2022-23! I’m very excited to be chapter president this year and am very much looking forward to meeting and working with everyone.
My name is Gopal Ghising, and it has been an incredible journey for me to be here. I was born and raised in Nepal and was very lucky to be exposed to what opportunities the world offers if you are willing to sacrifice and explore. Early on in my life, America was only a dream and a land of opportunity to advance my education and build an amazing life and career. It has been everything I could have hoped for and more!
I first came to the United States in 2003, and ever since the Bay Area has been the home for me, my wife and our two daughters. My college journey in the United States began at the College of San Mateo, where I first met a mentor and CalCPA leader Professor Bruce Maul. CalCPA has been integral in my personal life, education and professionally ever since. I continued my education at San Francisco State University, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and concluded my formal education at Cal State University East Bay where I received my Master’s degree in Taxation.
Upon graduation, I joined the corporate accounting department of a Bay Area business, where I gained a great professional foundation and recognized the possibilities the accounting profession offers. After networking and a comprehensive career search, I joined a public accounting firm, Holland and Associates, based in Palo Alto. There I was able to get more involved with CalCPA and build my career. Recently, Holland and Associates merged with Bayshore Tax & Consulting, a regional firm where I have been able to take on a leadership role as director.
As I mentioned above, my initial exposure to CalCPA was as a student member in 2005. Being new to the United States, CalCPA provided a community for me to engage both personally and professionally. My involvement with the Peninsula Chapter began in 2017 when I joined as a director/YEP co-chair. I’m grateful to all of our past and present chapter leaders and fellow members for their support and encouragement along the way. Further, my involvement with CalCPA has been invaluable for me to gain leadership skills, build my network, and give back to new members and students. Our future working together is as bright as we choose for it to be.
This year, I would love to connect with each and every one of you as well as our student members to build our profession, CalCPA and our careers! The ongoing COVID situation has been and is challenging for us all. I’m very hopeful and excited we are on our way back to normalcy soon, and the brightest of futures for us all. We have many events planned for the year, so please join us to meet fellow members, share ideas, and build our careers and professional networks.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all at an upcoming chapter event.
Take care
Gopal Ghising
